Here are some suggestions from Becca, our ITRT – please contact her for more information.
Below is a list of our online resources (web subscriptions the division pays for).

World Book Kids – Simple navigation, colorful illustrations, activities for young students, and more.
World Book Student – The complete World Book encyclopedia plus multimedia, web links, periodicals, and more.

- Brainpop and Brainpop Jr. contains animated Science, Health, Technology, Math, Social Studies and English movies, comic strips, activity pages and school homework help for kids. Brainpop is upper elementary and Brainpop Jr. is K-3 but there is considerable cross over so don’t be afraid to look at both. Also, there is a new addition to the Brainpop family, Brainpop Espanol!

- Enchanted Learning is a website that contains hundreds of blackline masters on many topics. Unlike Brainpop, each school has its own individual account.

- United Streaming is a service provided through Discovery Education. United Streaming is the largest online collection of education videos and media resources. The site is pretty deep and so if you need help let me know. To get started, use the passcode for your school and then create your own username and password. If you are sharing one account with your school please register individually as we keep track of the usage at individual schools.
Website: http://streaming.discoveryeducation.com/If you have any questions about these sites, usernames or passwords please contact me so we can sort it out together.
In addition to these resources, don’t forget that SMART Notebook, Inspiration, Kidspiration and Kidpix can be used for instruction. If you are interested in learning more about these software programs please contact me for ideas or training.
Finally, I have a short list of some of my favorite sites. You may want to check these out to find even more resources, including ready made lessons and activities.
- The first is our ITRT website http://thehoot.us
The Hoot was designed by myself and Eric Stauffer (the ITRT for Clark, Burnley Moran and Venable). We have created a place to put hundreds of links to instruction manuals, lesson plans, and interactive sites for kids. Check it out, it’s a hoot!
- The second site is http://www.rockingham.k12.va.us/resources/elementary/soltechintegration.htm
This site has tons of teacher made materials to use with your SMARTBoard. A great place to start.
- The third site is http://www.opencourtresources.com/
This is the Open Court Resource Site. Lot’s of links to great resources.
- “ABCmouse: Kids Learning, Phonics, Educational Games, Preschool-Kindergarten Reading Content”
ABC Mouse is subscription-based site with no advertising or pop ups. Kids are free to explore the activities and curriculum in a safe environment. Here is the best news- it is free for public schools.
